Al / Bi2O3 is a kind of metastable intermolecular composites (MIC) with characteristics such as high output pressure,high combustion efficiency,fast energy release rate,safety and environmental friendly etc[1].It has a good prospect in the field of energetic materials such as new pyrotechnics,explosives and propellants[2].In the formulation of high-energy solid rocket propellant,Al as a high-energy combustion agent used to improve the propellant energy with the high heat release,high energy density,inhibiting unstable combustion,rich raw materials,low cost and other characteristics[3].Bi2O3 as a high-density oxide(8.9g/cm3),can react with metal Al,expected to impart high density specific impulse properties to the solid propellant.However,in the adhesive system based on polyurethane,the Bi element has obvious catalytic effect on the reaction of -NCO and -OH,which affects the processing performance.That becomes a major problem in the application of Bi2O3 in high performance solid propellants.Therefore,the way to improve the efficiency of thermite reaction(Al-Bi2O3)effectively and to reduce the catalytic activity of Bi2O3 is the main problem in the application of Bi2O3 in propellant.
High-energy ball milling is a method through the use of hard ball on the raw materials for a strong impact, grinding and stirring, so that the powder samples with uniform distribution of tissues and ingredients can be obtained by the repeated process of rolling, pressing, crushed, and relamination.Al and Bi2O3 composite energetic materials with high combustion efficiency, fast energy release rate safety insensitivity and good coating(Al coated Bi2O3) were expected by high energy ball milling.
