Clutter Estimation for Random Pulse Repetition Interval Radar

This paper deals with sidelobe pedestal suppression
of the range-Doppler plane in the presence of the clutter for
random pulse repetition interval (RPRI) radar. A novel algorithm
for clutter cell estimation (CCE) is proposed to figure out the
amplitude of clutter in both range and Doppler dimension. Each
dimension is implemented based on the gain constraint adaptive
pulse compression (GCAPC) algorithm. Numerical simulations
are provided to assess the capability of the proposed algorithm
in comparison with uniform PRI (UPRI) radar. Results show
the capability of CCE with lower sidelobe pedestal than the
traditional matched filter and MTD (MF-MTD) method and
unambiguity of RPRI radar in Doppler dimension.
