In present paper we give an overview regarding the position and the number of inertial measurement units (IMU) used to detect human activities based on literature review. In total 50 relevant studies were found which focused on human activity recognition (HAR) and pedestrian dead-reckoning.
We have concentrated on the number, the sample frequencies and the positioning of IMUs. In addition, we investigated the different human activities in this context.
