摘要
Electro-hydraulic forming (EHF) is a high velocity forming (HVF) process which utilizes the underwater discharge to produce a shock pressure as driving force. Electromagnetic forming (EMF) is a HVF process which utilizes electromagnetic coil to produce a pulsed Lorentz force as forming force. This paper shall combine these two processes to improve the formability in sheet metal forming. While EHF is used to accelerate the sheet metal above die cavity, a dedicated EMF process is used to generate a radial inward Lorentz force at sheet periphery, thus enhancing the draw-in material flow of the sheet flange. We shall validate the feasibility of the proposed method by experiments, and in addition, we shall reveal the underlying process dynamics by the numerical simulation, which explains the underlying mechanism of the proposed process on improving the forming behavior.
