Abstract - For the hybrid DC circuit breaker with a vacuum switch paralleled with IGBT combination, the breaking capability is significantly related to the current transfer characteristics during the hybrid breaking process. The objective of this paper is to study the influence of different IGBT series and parallel combinations on the current transfer characteristics during hybrid breaking process. To compare the influence of different IGBT combinations, the characteristics of different IGBT combinations were measured to obtain the on-state voltage characteristics of the IGBT combination. A hybrid DC circuit breaker platform with vacuum switches paralleled with IGBT combination was established. The experiment obtained the voltage across the vacuum switch and IGBT, the IGBT current and the arc current during the breaking process. Comparing the current transfer process under different IGBT combinations, the effect of different IGBT combinations on current transfer characteristics is obtained.
