Pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants primarily consist of vessels, piping, pumps, valves and other related equipments considering by equipment composition,. With the development in prognostics health management (PHM), institutions and universities have initiated targeted studies on key systems and equipments. This paper suggests exploring PHM for valves in nuclear power plants. Valves are used approximately 30,000 units in the nuclear power plant, with their maintenance costs comprising over half of the total maintenance expenditure. By exploring intelligent monitoring technologies and developing PHM for these valves, it is possible to enhance their operational safety and reduce maintenance costs.
