摘要
A redesigned stripline beam position monitor (BPM) is proposed for directional current sensing in unshielded cables. The proposed design achieves broadband impedance matching (10 kHz–100 MHz) through multi-mode analysis (sum, dipole, quadrupole modes) and structural trade-offs, including an enlarged metal sleeve inner diameter (63 mm) for cable versatility. The electrode radius was optimized to 26.6 mm via 3D electromagnetic simulation, finally achieved global impedance matching across multiple operating modes. Directionality was validated through CST simulations and experimental tests with a current-carrying single wire, showing consistent upstream/downstream signal asymmetry over 10 kHz–100 MHz. Signal processing further enabled extraction of current position and relative amplitude. This work establishes a foundation for electromagnetic interference direction detection systems using BPM arrays.
