摘要
Plasma activated water (PAW) faces limitations in large-scale applications due to its high energy cost, partly caused by insufficient interaction between plasma and liquid. This study develops an atmospheric-pressure hollow cathode discharge system using a water electrode, which effectively minimizes electrode erosion while substantially increasing the plasma-water contact area, leading to improving energy transfer efficiency and activation performance. Through systematic investigation of discharge parameters influencing solution properties (pH, H₂O₂, NO₂⁻, NO₃⁻, ONOO⁻), the results reveals monotonic variations with reaction time and optimal values at specific nitrogen ratios. Energy cost analysis demonstrates that under 60% nitrogen discharge for 5 minutes, the energy cost can be reduced to 27.73 MJ/mol—significantly lower than the minimum value reported in existing literature (40.60 MJ/mol). This work confirms the potential of hollow cathode discharge for energy-efficient PAW production and offers crucial guidance for energy cost optimization.
