The Technical Committee 7(TC-7 Remote Sensing an Mapping) of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) and the ISPRS Inter Commission Working Group III/VII (Pattern Analysis in Remote Sensing) organize the 9th International Workshop on Pattern Recognition in Remote Sensing (PRRS 2016). This workshop will be held in conjunction with the International Conference on Pattern Recognition ICPR 2016. The workshop is co-sponsored by IAPR, ISPRS, and IEEE-GRSS.
In the past decade the PRRS workshop has established itself as an important event for scientists involved in the combined fields of pattern recognition and remote sensing. Therefore it has always been organized together with the ICPR conferences. Pattern recognition and remote sensing have always overlapped, but the large volumes of remote sensing data now coming from last generation sensors require new advanced algorithms and techniques for automatic analysis. This one-day workshop will be the ideal means to spread and exchange experiences by international researchers.
For about 20 years now the Pattern Recognition in Remote Sensing Workshops have been an established forum in particular for publications on the application of pattern recognition methods to remotely sensed data. As such these workshops serve as an event bringing together researchers from the field of pattern recognition and remote sensing, respectively. Steady progress in the construction of new remote sensing devices leads to ever increasing data masses and new possibilities. Thus need arises to apply the latest methods of machine learning and pattern recognition for automatic analysis of these data. This one-day workshop provides an ideal forum for spreading and exchanging the latest experiences of international researchers.
