The role of power electronics in electric utilities is changing from an enabling technology for renewable generations and energy-efficient consumptions to an underpinning technology for grid modernization. Electronic power transmission and distribution grids, which can efficiently manage electricity among power-electronic-based sources and loads, are being envisioned in the near future. Researchers, engineers and students, in both power electronics and electric power grids & utilities, will present and exchange their views of the latest advances in electronic power transmission and distribution technologies. Stability, power quality and resiliency of electronic power grids will be of prime interest. Topics include, but not limited to DC transmission and distribution, Flexible electronic transmission, Asynchronous generation and interconnect, Electronic power transformers and switchgear, Transients, electromagnetic/impedance compatibility, etc.
Following the success of the inaugural workshop, the 2nd IEEE Workshop on Electronic Power Transmission and Distribution (eT&D 2017), jointly sponsored by IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) and IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES), will be held on November 7-8, Aalborg, Denmark, where a 100% renewable energy future by 2050 is targeted. This international workshop, organized by Aalborg University, will feature presentations only ( without proceedings), which consist of executive panel sessions, invited speeches, and technical oral/poster presentations from government, industry and academia. All presentations will be archived in the IEEE PELS and PES Resource Centers. Researchers, engineers and students, in both power electronics and electric power systems, will present and exchange their views of the latest advances in electronic power transmission and distribution technologies. Stability, power quality and resiliency of electronic power grids will be of prime interest in eT&D 2017.
