Building on the resounding success of the PSEA series events in the past 6 years, we are proud to come back to Ho Chi Minh City with the 7th edition of the Power Southeast Asia 2018 from 22-23 Nov. 2018
Vietnam's public and private sector infrastructure investment averaged 5.7 per cent of gross domestic product in recent years, the highest in South-east Asia, according to the Asian Development Bank. Foreign direct investment surged to a record US$15.8 billion in 2016. To meet the rising demand for electricity powering the economic growth, Vietnam’s power generation capacity has been growing on a fast track in the past few years. PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power), a wholly owned subsidiary of Vietnam's national oil company PetroVietnam, plans to start the construction of 9 gas-fired power plants with a total expected output of 5,200 MW. Last year, Vietnamese government issued 3 more investment licenses to foreign investors to set up 7.5 billion USD mega power plants in the country. Recently, an international consortium lead by EDF is going to build a 2, 000 MW gas power plant in central Vietnam and Sembcorp has signed an MOU with People’s Committee of Quang Ngai Province to advance its 750 MW gas power plant. On the renewable energy side, we’ve also seen enormous interest and investment into Vietnam’s solar and wind sector. It is aimed to install 12 GW solar pv capacity by 2030. The market is evolving towards a more diversified power-gen landscape from coal-dominated era.
