The International Symposium on Metallomics (ISM) has been held every two years since its first symposium in Nagoya in 2007, which was chaired by Professor Hiroki Haraguchi. The 8th symposium (ISM-8) was originally scheduled in 2021, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ISM-8 executive committee, in agreement with the ISM steering committee, has decided to reschedule it for 2022. In addition, the venue has been moved to Kanazawa. Following the first ISM held in Nagoya, it was held in various areas around the world, including the US, Germany, Spain, China, Austria, and Poland. The return of ISM to Japan signals the second phase of metallomics research. Indeed, several emerging topics are expected in ISM-8. The Symposium will include plenary, keynote, and special topic sessions, oral and poster presentations, and vender exhibitions. The executive committee and the local organizing committee cordially invite you to join us in Kanazawa. However, considering the unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic, we also welcome online participation.
