The symposium provides an opportunity for scientists and engineers to showcase their research on an international platform. It also provides a venue for entrepreneurs and venture capitalists to discuss collaborative research and business developments. A panel of international experts will discuss and address possible avenues to bridge the gap between research and development. Conference attendees will receive a copy of the proceedings that contains all accepted papers. This symposium will include, emerging research related to macro- and supramolecular architectures and materials, with structures not limited to nanosystems and technologies. The symposium will also address venture investments, which takes results, from laboratory to product. There will be a workshop session that precedes the symposium. The symposium comprises of world-class plenary presentations (notable 3 Nobel Laureates), invited speakers from more than 30 difference countries, 2 panel discussions addressing the challenges facing innovation to commercializtion, oral and poster presentations, an insightful exhibition and numerous other contributions. MAM-14 is hosted and organised by Mintek. Mintek is a leading provider of minerals processing and metallurgical engineering products and services to industries world-wide. The Nanotechnology Innovation Centre (NIC) is based at Mintek. The NIC is a national facility, established in 2007 by the Department of Science and Technology. The Mintek NIC activities focus on a number of issues, including the development of research platforms, encouraging and promoting the formation of collaborative networks, addressing human capital development and bridging the “innovation chasm”.
