A workshop will be held from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, 2014 at the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory. This workshop aims to give an overview of the Subaru Telescope to the Chinese astronomical community, discussing the future cooperation with Subaru and providing opportunities to start individual collaborations. With the future TMT-era in mind, further cooperation between East Asian astronomical communities are essential. As the first step with Subaru, the 8-meter Japanese telescope at the same location as TMT, we have invited 11 of the most active users of Subaru telescope (working in the fields of exo-planets, nearby galaxies and Galactic archaeology, high-z galaxies and AGN) from Japan, as well as the Subaru director and vice-director. In order to stimulate collaborations, since semester 2014B Subaru has decided to award one night to the highest scoring proposal from China, provided this proposal is ranked in the top half of all proposals in the concerned science category. During the workshop this scheme will be discussed in more detail and so we encourage those who are interested in using Subaru to attend the meeting. The deadline to request a talk passed at the end of October, while the registration without talk is still open until Nov. 14, 2014. There will be no registration fee.
