One of the highlights of the meeting will be a session dedicated to the new class of compound that has resulted from research on the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) and vasoactive peptides, the angiotensin receptor and neprilysin inhibitor. Other highlights will come from sessions on signaling networks that interface with the RAS, miRNAs, and their importance in cardiovascular physiopathology and therapeutics. There will be presentations on state-of-the-art novel technologies, such as genome editing and optogenetics, and their applications to study the RAS. Other sessions will address the regulation of angiotensin synthesis and action in the kidney and in the brain, on the immune system and on salt and metabolism, thereby proposing new pathophysiological paradigms. Lastly, we will have a follow-up session on the unsolved intracrine functions of angiotensin.
In addition to cutting-edge science, this meeting will also perpetuate the tradition of forging new friendships and establishing new cross-disciplinary national and international collaborations for the RAS community. Established investigators and trainees at all levels gather together in a very picturesque setting in a collegial and informal atmosphere where discussions begin over breakfast and continue during the afternoon and late at night through convivial gatherings after the evening sessions. Early career scientists and students will have the occasion to discuss their unpublished data with distinguished leaders throughout the conference, and will have the opportunity to present their work in dedicated slots throughout the program.
