活动简介

The field trip consists of two days discussing concepts related to structural and stratigraphical seals both in exploration and production scales.

During the first day, we will visit the carbonate exposures at the southern flank of Al Jebel Al Akhdar to examine a number of fault exposures that illustrate fault seal potentials in carbonates while looking at fault damage zones, fault segmentations, fault juxtaposition and fault continuity through various carbonate lithologies. We will also explore the Integration between Fault sealing and Stratigraphic seals of Nahr Umr and Aruma units.

On the second day, we will visit the outcrops of Jebel Madar, a prominent salt dome in the Oman Mountains, to discuss seal risks and opportunities while examining lagoonal facies or tight carbonates, incised meandering carbonate channels and fault architectures in Shuaiba, Nahr Umr and Natih formations.

Proposed stops:

First Day:
Near Wadi Tanuf
Fault Segmentation and Fault Geometries
Al-Hamra
Mechanisms of fault sealing
Integration between Fault sealing and Stratigraphic seals of Nahr Umr and Aruma units
Second Day:
Jebel Madar
Stratigraphic traps in exploration and production scales
Incised meandering carbonate channels
Geomechanical stratigraphy and fault architectures in Shuaiba, Nahr Umr and Natih Formations
