The AAHC is an initiative of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). It is a platform created to facilitate interaction among the different sectors of the horticulture industry in Africa, build synergies, and ultimately, unleash the underexploited potential of horticulture in Africa. The AAHC holds on rotational basis in the sub-regions of Africa. The third AAHC follows the first and second held earlier in Kenya and South Africa, respectively. It is designed to cater to the diverse needs of the science, industry/business and capacity building sectors of the horticulture industry. There’s something for you during this congress whether you are a hobby horticulturist or a professional, so you cannot afford to miss it. Students are welcome too. It will feature symposia, an exhibition, field trips, brokerage of new business partnerships, a photo competition, and social events; all carefully put together to express the various perspectives of the theme ‘Horticulture for improved livelihoods’.
The venue of the Congress is the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan. Its serene and secure environment and modern conference facilities provide an ideal environment to relax, network, and learn. Ibadan is one of the largest indigenous cities in Africa. It combines a unique blend of traditional values with the modern. Living expenses are modest, the people are friendly, and it is easy to get around. You will have the opportunity to renew acquaintances made during the previous Congresses and make new friends!
